Age 39, Christophe Michalak is one of the leaders of modern pastry making. He started as an apprentice as he was 16 years old, worked for Pierre Hermé in New York and for Ladurée before joining the Michelin 3*** restaurant of Alain Ducasse at Plaza Athénée. In 2005, he won the Pastry World Championship and his childhood dream became reality. To him, reaching the top is not major, remaining at the top is what matters! Every day is a new challenge for Michalak to unvail new creations just as any artist, couture designer or composer. He designs his cakes as a fashion designer dresses a woman. Thanks to him, pastry making went from food to art, opening the way to many other young talented pastry chefs whose creations are now recognized as jewels. Overachiever, he still operates at the Plaza Athénée whose tea room is the place to be and enjoy his creations, contributes to the desert menu of Boco, a new concept of gourmet organic bistronomia, has a pastry show on TV called « The cake of my dreams », publishes pastry books, collaborates with a number of world famous brand such as Cartier, Starbucks or Disneyland and more! Last but not least, he is charming and friendly not to mention very good looking!
