L’Ascension, new address off the beaten path.

L’Ascension is one of this places that you are so happy you found in Paris. In a city that offers about 20 000 restaurants, you don’t get surprised that often specially when you try to dine on reasonable budget and away from the many tourist traps. Chef Amar Chalal has found the right combination, a mix of elegance and world inspiration. After working with the stared chef Yannick Alléno at Pavillon Le Doyen, 3 stars in the Michelin guide and former chef of Le Meurice Hotel in Paris, and travelling the world from where he acquired a very personal experience and unique taste, chef Amar offers his wonderful plates in a simple way yet efficient. Fabulous quality of fresh seasonal produce prepared in an open kitchen, an art when it get to sauces, juices or emulsions, all paired with a fine combination of wines, daily specials direct from the market and real chef’s desserts, make sure you keep room for that too! His Mediterranean origines bring that special touch, using spices collected all over the world to magnify the flavors without overtaking the original taste. A fine combination that few chefs know how to balance properly. Here you see the training in some of the most demanding kitchens of acclaimed master chefs. It’s very creative, casual, honest, easy access and a renewed pleasure at each visit and I already went 3 times in a month, very unusual when you consider the Paris offer. A real culinary « coup de coeur »! No need to pick your brains to enjoy this straight forward proposal. Close to Place de Clichy, a neighborhood well known for the food scene, L’ascension is worth visiting to enjoy this typical Parisian art of dinning!
