The hills have eyes

Hidden in a small street at the bottom of the hill, La Midinette is the favorite address of the genuine montmartrois, the real locals of Montmartre. An authentic village bistro where the boss, Stephane welcomes you in a casual and friendly atmosphere. In the kitchen meet Corrine, she is the chef. Every day she receives, straight from Rungis, the wholesale food market of Paris, the finest ingredients of the day for her today’s special menu of homemade food in the best French tradition: a terrine of Duck, veal cheeks in a stew and creme caramel… all this under 25€! In the restaurant, the decor is renewed evert month with a different artist, painter or photographer invited to show his art by Stephane. In the rear just opened a small private room with a gas fire place that can seat 12 persons in case you don’t want to mix with the numerous friends of the place, the colorful locals of the hill swinging by for a drink or just to say hey. If Stephane happens to like you, he might tell you some of the good stories of the place and point a the famous locals who consider La Midinette as their dining room. A real nice place in a location of Paris usually famous for its tourists’ traps, whose owners are obviously proud of being part of the last happy fews of Montmartre, keeping alive the soul of the hill.

On the picture from left to right: food critic Jean-Luc Petirenaud, best sommelier of the world Philippe Faure-Brac and Stephane.
