I find romance…

Coupe-Choux is a Paris institution and one of the most romantic restaurant in the Latin quarter, should I say the one and only romantic and cosy restaurant in a very touristy area of the city.

It opened in 1962, founded by 3 actors who wanted to have a late night restaurant to enjoy dinner after the performance in a time most of the restaurants were closed by midnight. Ever since, stars and fancy members of the Parisian Café Society have gathered at le Coupe-Chou to enjoy this very special atmosphere you only find in the Latin quarter, a rich mix of casualty and intelligentia, sophistication and friendliness.

The place is very cosy with its old original oak beams, deep velvet armchairs by the fireplace, an old medieval feel and the perfect setting for an intimate dinner. The food is French classic with fresh and seasonal produce such as escargots, homemade vegetable soup or foie gras to bourguignon or duck magret and Napoleon desert, my favorite.

Le Coupe-Chou is also famous for its selection of wines from all over France, carefully selected from the best wine makers for their quality and not for their reputation with a great value for such quality. And if you don’t finish your bottle, you will be able to take it home with you and no one will give you a dirty look!

The best place for Valentine’s day and the winter season. There’s no such thing as enjoying a brandy seating by the fire place in such a charming place!
